The Japan Air Self-Defence Force (JASDF) is one of the pillars of the country’s defence capability. With the advent of new technologies, the Koku-Jieitai is moving forward with force modernisation plans in line with the government’s efforts to reform the military’s defence posture. ADJ had an exclusive interview with the Koku-Jieitai chief, Gen Yoshinari Marumo during his visit to Southeast Asia recently, where he talked about some of the modernisation programmes in store for the service.
