Malaysian Aerospace Firm AIROD Delivers Transafrik International of Uganda Their 17th Aircraft after Heavy Maintenance
Malaysian aerospace firm Aircraft Inspection, Repair & Overhaul Depot Sdn Bhd (AIROD) held an Aircraft delivery and appreciation ceremony with Transafrik International of Uganda at the recent Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace exhibition in Langkawi, Malaysia.
The MRO relationship between AIROD and Transafrik International began way back in 2008, whereby Transafrik International entrusted AIROD with its first C-130/L-100 aircraft programme which underwent a C-Check. Fast forward 16 years to 2023, AIROD has completed numerous heavy maintenance works on Transafrik’s fleet including Outer and Centre wing Box replacements and Avionics Upgrades. Furthering this auspicious event was the delivery of the 17th aircraft serial number 5X-TUE in the month of May 2023.
AIROD Sdn Bhd, CEO Ismail bin Ibrahim presented a memento of appreciation to Transafrik International, Director of Maintenance Dolf Kuhn for its trust in AIROD over the last 16 years and said “Since 2008, both organisations have grown and flourished in their respective aviation industries and AIROD is continuing to do this by supporting Transafrik’s aircraft serviceability rate for its operations in Papua New Guinea.
The delivery of the 17th aircraft for Transafrik will add more capacity to its fleet in order to meet commercial demands from their customer.
Transafrik International, Director of Maintenance Dolf Kuhn said, “AIROD as a Lockheed Martin Hercules Service Centre, allows them to give confidence to their customers knowing that the aircraft is maintained by an authorised Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of the L-100/C-130 aircraft which they operate.”
For AIROD, the appreciation to Transafrik International signifies its commitment to its local and international customers that its role is to keep the customer in the air.
Located in Subang, Malaysia, AIROD provides aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul services to support Royal Malaysian Air Force aircraft. AIROD has provided services to the US Air Force under a previous US government contract and is an authorised Lockheed Martin C-130 Hercules service centre.
Located in Entebbe, Uganda, Transafrik International has supported the worldwide air cargo industry from their base of operations in Africa, where their commercial fleet is based.
