China and Russia To Boost Defence Ties
Military co-operation between Russia and China is continually developing on all fronts, according to Russia’s defence minister Gen Sergey Shoigu, who said that the two countries’ relations in the military sphere are developing steadily in all areas. “We conduct joint tactical and combat training activities on a regular basis on land, at sea and in the air, successfully practising combat training tasks of various complexity.”
Gen Shoigu was speaking during talks with his Chinese counterpart, Adm Dong Jun, which took place via video conference call on Jan 31. He also reiterated that Russian and Chinese actions are not directed against third countries. “We, unlike some Western countries, are not creating military blocs,” he said, further adding that he hoped to foster closer and more productive defence cooperation with Adm Dong Jun. shp/adj/dl (Pix:Twitter)
