New Type 055 Destroyer Conducts Training Evaluation

The eighth Type 055 stealth guided-missile destroyer – Xianyang of the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) has undergone a full-spectrum training evaluation consisting of naval attack missions, anti-submarine warfare missions and air defence missions at a naval training centre affiliated with the PLAN at an undisclosed location. During the training session, the 10,000-tonne Xianyang along with a Type 054A guided-missile frigate – Bayannaoer carried out live-fire exercises with their primary armament, depth charges and close-in weapons systems. Commissioned into the PLA Southern Theatre Command which faces the South China Sea in April 2023, the vessel is armed with a 130mm H/PJ-38 naval gun and possessing a 112-cell vertically-launched missile system that caters to anti-air, anti-ship, anti-submarine and land attack missiles.shp/adj/dl (Pix:People’s Liberation Army Navy)
