Singaporean and Malaysian Air Forces Conclude 6th SAREX-MALSING

The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) and Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) have concluded the sixth iteration of the bilateral Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX) MALSING, which took place at the RMAF’s Kuantan Air Base from 7-15 May. Both air forces have deployed the Airbus H225M helicopters with SAR aircrew and support crew for the exercise.

Throughout the exercise, Subject Matter Expert Exchanges (SMEE) from both sides were held to plan for joint SAR operations of a simulated aerial accident off Malaysia’s Tioman Islands where aerial searches and evacuations of simulated casualties were also part of the field training exercise (FTX). SAREX MALSING has been a platform for the RSAF and RMAF to enhance their professional relationship and foster closer mutual cooperation and interoperability since its first edition in 2018.

“This annual bilateral exercise provides both Air Forces with an important platform and excellent opportunities to collaborate, interoperate and train together in life saving Search and Rescue operations. We stay committed to improve our SAR operations to save lives through our regular collaboration. It is also a testament to the warm and long-standing defence relations between the two countries”, said RSAF 125 Squadron Commanding Officer (CO) Lieutenant Colonel Lim Seng Wee.

His counterpart, CO of RMAF 10 Squadron Lt Col Ahmad Farhan added, “we are pleased to participate in this bilateral exercise with the RSAF on combined Search and Rescue operations. This bilateral exercise with the RSAF demonstrates a high level of professionalism, mutual trust and team excellence from the personnel of both Air Forces to maximise our joint capabilities to carry out SAR operations safely and expeditiously.”-shp/adj/dl (Pix:RMAF)
