Hanwha Systems to supply Cheongung II radar to Saudi Arabia

SOUTH Korean defence firm Hanwha Systems was awarded a US$866.8 million contract for multi-function radar (MFR) to be used with the Cheongung II medium-range surface-to-air missile (M-SAM) system which Saudi Arabia has also purchased. Saudi Arabia reportedly purchased 10 batteries of the Cheongung II from another Korean firm, LIG Nex1 in February this year. Hanwha’s MFR was also sold to the United Arab Emirates in 2022.

The MFR is a highly advanced radar that integrates many different radar functions like detection, tracking, electronic warfare and missile guidance into one single radar, so that MFR can perform multiple functions and missions simultaneously.-shp/adj/dl (Pix:Hanwha)
