Baykar Group Showcases Latest UAVs At Indo Defence
BAYKAR Group showcased the latest advancements in unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAV) at Indo Defence in Jakarta, Indonesia. At its booth, the Turkish UAV manufacturer presented models of its Kizilelma Fighter UAV, Bayraktar TB2 medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) UAV, Bayraktar Akinci high-altitude long-endurance (HALE) UAV. Baykar’s participation in Jakarta is the first step towards breaking into the Asia-Pacific market.
Another highlight of the company was the Kemankes 1 and 2 winged mini smart cruise missiles. The Kemankes 2 can be launched unconventionally via a rocket-assisted takeoff (RATO) or from mobile platforms.Meanwhile, the Kizilelma which is still under development saw its fourth protoype unit conduct more test flights on June 12. With a tail number PT-4, the Kizilelma succesfully passed its aerodynamic auxiliary take-off system identification test. The Kizilelma is designed for taking on manned or unmanned enemy aerial platforms, capable of conducting dogfights enabled by artificial intelligence (AI).
Additionally, the firm’s TB3 UCAV capable of fully autonomous take off and landing from short-runway vessels marked its 100th successful sorties amidst ongoing tests on the Turkish Naval Forces’ TCG Anadolu amphibious assault ship. The most recent trials included evaluations of its vision-based, AI-assisted fully automatic takeoff and landing systems.
The TB3’s vision-based, AI-assisted fully automatic takeoff and landing capability was tested. As part of the trials, critical features such as visual line tracking, aircraft carrier detection, runway identification, and landing angle estimation through ground view were successfully demonstrated. The platform has logged a total of 1,167 hours and 8 minutes of flight time across 709 sorties to date. Last month, two prototype TB3s successfully executed dual salvo strikes on land targets using MAM-L munitions developed by Roketsan, Aselsan’s ASELFLIR-500 and CATS electro-optical systems were also integrated aboard. As the world’s largest unmanned aerial vehicle company, Baykar has signed export agreements with a total of 36 countries—35 for the TB2 and 15 for the Akinci.-shp/adj/dl (Pix:ADJ)
