HANWHA Systems has partnered with several big names in the defence and aerospace industry at the Paris Air Show. The South Korean firm signed memoranda of understanding (MOU) with South African firm Milkor Aerospace, and American firm Lockheed Martin.

Milkor Aerospace and Hanwha’s deal was signed by Hanwha Systems’ Defence Electronics Business Division Senior Vice President Hyuck Park together with Milkor UAE CEO Julian Coetzee. It entails the integration of Hanwha’s cutting edge active electronically scanned array (AESA) synthetic aperture radar (SAR) system onboard the flagship Milkor 380 medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The payload would supply operators with high-resolution imaging, ground and maritime-moving target indication (GMTI/MMTI), and all-weather reconnaissance capabilities, therefore enhancing its effectiveness in intelligence-gathering and situational awareness.

Then, Lockheed Martin’s deal with Hanwha sought to advance existing collaborations and deepening joint efforts into the development of technology, business opportunities and market expansion. Their partnership would encompass advanced rotary-wing aircraft, unmanned platforms and autonomous platforms powered by artificial-intelligence (AI).

Several days earlier, Hanwha and Northrop Grumman’s formalised a partnership to jointly develop multilayered air defence systems. Northrop Grumman is the developer of the Integrated Air and Missile Defense Battle Command System (IBCS), one of the most advanced air defence command and control platforms which unifies radar and interceptor systems across land, sea and air to form a strong air defence network.–shp/adj/dl (Pix:MILKOR)
