KONGSBERG Defence & Aerospace signed a contract for the delivery of ORCCA combat system elements to four 212CD submarines for Germany and two for Norway. The contract has a total value of US$343 million.

Earlier in December 2025, the Norwegian government announced plans to acquire two more 212CD submarines, in addition to the four that have already been ordered. The proposal is awaiting formal approval by the Norwegian parliament.

“Following these orders, Norway and Germany will together operate a fleet of 12 modern submarines equipped with the industry’s most advanced combat system. Submarines are an important strategic capability, helping to deter potential adversaries and strengthen the defence of national interests,” said president of Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace Eirik Lie.

Kongsberg signed the contract with kta naval systems, which was established to develop combat systems for non-nuclear submarines, and to develop, produce and maintain combat systems for submarines from TKMS. Kta naval systems is a joint venture between TKMS, its Naval Electronic Systems business unit (ATLAS ELEKTRONIK) and Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace.

Additionally, Kongsberg also signed another contract for the delivery of four navigation systems for the German Navy’s 212A submarine refit programme. The contract has a value of more than US$58M.

The agreement also includes deliveries to the German Navy’s training facilities for the 212A class submarines. Kongsberg signed the contract with TKMS where the deliveries are based on technology and solutions developed for the joint Norwegian-German 212CD programme spearheaded by Kongsberg and TKMS.
