In this exclusive interview with ADJ, RMN chief Adm Mohd Reza Mohd Sany updates us on the ongoing 15-to-5 Fleet Modernisation Programme as well as other capabilities required in the navy’s wish-list. The admiral also spoke on maritime security initiatives conducted with other security forces in the region. The spectrum of Malaysia’s maritime security challenges is enormous. The navy chief said that protecting the sovereignty and sovereign rights of the nation is a formidable task particularly in maritime space–where disputes over overlapping jurisdictions, navigational rights, exploration and exploitation rights of natural resources, not to mention the overwhelming maritime threats like piracy and other transnational crimes.
