Pakistan Navy (PN) is a multi-dimensional and balanced force, well-configured to defend Pakistan’s sea frontiers, safeguard maritime interests and contribute towards regional maritime security. Pakistan is geo-strategically located on the confluence of Middle East, Central Asia and South Asia on the northern shores of Arabian Sea, adjacent to world’s energy highway. PN has been playing an important role in the regional maritime security for maintaining good order at sea, through participation in international initiatives like US-led Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) and own maritime security initiative of Regional Maritime Security Patrol (RMSP). With the progress of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and changing geo-strategic realities in the region, the role and responsibilities of PN have enhanced manifold. Keeping in view these realities, PN has reconfigured its developmental plans to address maritime security needs and maintain deterrence against evolving maritime threats. (Jan-Feb 2021)
