Adm Hu Zhongming was promoted to Admiral and appointed as Commander of the PLA Navy (PLAN), the world’s largest navy in numbers. Adm Hu had previously held the post of PLAN chief of naval staff for two years, previously serving as deputy chief of staff, commander as well as deputy commander of the Northern Theatre Command, and was the captain of a submarine before that.

Next, Lt Gen Wang Wenquan was promoted to General as the new political commissar of the Southern Theatre Command which looks after PLA activity in the South China Sea. The appointments were greenlit by President Xi Jinping who heads the Central Military Commission which oversees all branches of the PLA. shp/adj/dl (Pix:China Military)
