SINGAPORE:Honeywell and Indonesia’s PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) have announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on collaborations regarding the Indonesian Armed Forces’ future fleet of Sikorsky S-70M Black Hawk helicopters manufactured by Lockheed Martin. Honeywell and PTDI will jointly explore avionics and mechanical products for the fleet in addition to prospective cooperation in further developing Indonesia’s domestic maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capacities for Honeywell systems used on the Black Hawks. Furthermore, PTDI will also manufacture certain S-70M parts for Honeywell.

Honeywell Aerospace Technologies Vice President of Defence and Space Asia Pacific said, “we are honoured to collaborate with PTDI once more to advance the capabilities of the Indonesian Armed Forces’ S-70M helicopters. This MoU not only demonstrates our commitment to providing cutting-edge solutions to strengthen the military’s modernisation efforts, but also signifies our dedication to foster strong partnerships within the Indonesian aerospace and defence industry, as well as defence departments in the region.”

Meanwhile, PTDI President Director Gita Amperiawan added, “PTDI and Honeywell have a strong relationship years ago since 1992 in providing several systems on CN235 for IDAF and NC212 engines, and the signing today with Honeywell reaffirms PTDI’s commitment to deliver this critical rotary wing asset in support of Indonesia’s security needs and the modernisation efforts of its Armed Forces,”

This MOU comes after another MOU between the two companies in November of 2023 which would see Honeywell extend a helping hand to Indonesia’s growing defence industry while simultaneously modernising the nation’s armed forces and boost readiness efforts.shp/adj/dl (Pix:PTDI)
