In a statement issued by Russia’s state-owned Rostec, India will soon produce armour-piercing ammunition for Russian-made tanks. The announcement comes just before India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Russia on July 8-9.

Known as Mango rounds, the family of 125mm projectiles will be used in Russian-manufactured T-72 and T-90 main battle tanks (MBT) which are also in service with India.

Rostec also stated plans to localise gunpowder production in India as part of the Indian government initiative to have more foreign products manufactured in India.-shp/adj/dl (Pix:ROSTEC)
