Xi’an Y-20 airlifter makes overseas debut at Egypt International Airshow

MAKING its inaugural overseas flight performance at the Egypt International Airshow is a Xi’an Y-20 transport aircraft belonging to the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force (PLAAF).

Throughout the performance, the Y-20 executed six manoeuvres including large angle ascension and dive, large slope turning and fast landing, demonstrating the aircraft’s agility. Also invited to perform at the first edition of the Egypt International Airshow was the PLAAF’s August 1st Aerobatic Team also known as Ba Yi. With their performance, the team also marks its first performance in the continent.

The Egypt International Airshow is ongoing at El Alamein International Airport from September 3-5.

Before the airshow, a joint formation comprising the Y-20 and Ba Yi J-10 fighter aircraft flew over the Giza Pyramids on August 28, marking China-Egypt ties, in a PLAAF release.-shp/adj/dl (Pix:XINHUA)
