US$1.08B Deals Inked On IDEX 2025 Opening Day

THE opening day of IDEX & NAVDEX 2025 – held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, saw the announcement of 13 deals worth US$1.08 billion signed between the Tawazun Council and local as well as international companies.

Crown Prince of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Minister of Defence inaugurated the 17th edition of IDEX, while Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan inaugurated the eighth edition of NAVDEX 2025.

The Tawazun Council is the government entity responsible for acquisition, procurement, and contract management for the Ministry of Defence and security agencies. The deals were announced by Council spokespersons Majed Ahmed Al Jaberi, Mohammed Saif Al Zaabi, and Mahra Belal Al Dhaheri. IDEX & NAVDEX 2025 is organised by ADNEC Group, together with the Ministry of Defence and Tawazun Council.

The contracts included an agreement with International Golden Group (IGG) to procure ammunition worth US$186 million, a contract with Thales Emarat Technologies for to purchase spare parts and materials and provide maintenance and technical support worth US$30m, and a deal with EDGE Group for a data provisioning program and smart services valued at US$108m.

The contracts also included an agreement with Calidus Land Systems to procure a multi-role vehicle MTAV 4X4, worth US$490m, a deal with Al Masaood to purchase spare parts and materials and provision of maintenance and technical assistance services valued at US$5.4m, and a contract with National Marine Dredging Company for the acquisition of unmanned platforms worth US$81.4m.

Additionally, a contract was signed with Global Aerospace Logistics (GAL) to provide technical support, maintenance, repair, and spare parts services worth US$14.4m. Another agreement was reached with International Golden Group and MP3 for the procurement of pilot missions, aircraft rescue equipment and spare parts worth US$84.1m. Furthermore, Injazat Data Systems was awarded a contract to provide digital transformation services valued at US$37.7m.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Saif Al Zaabi announced that the total value of international contracts on the first day of IDEX and NAVDEX 2025 reached 4 deals worth US$39m. These included a contract with Finland’s Patria Land Systems Oy to provide technical support, repair services, and supply spare parts for Patria vehicles, valued at US$5.7m. Additionally, a deal was signed with Germany’s Rheinmetall Electronics to offer technical support for maintenance, repair, spare parts supply, logistics services, and sustainment of the tactical engagement system, worth US19.5m.

Furthermore, a contract was awarded to Switzerland’s Rheinmetall Air Defence for repair, maintenance, and spare parts supply for air defense systems, valued at US$5m. The final agreement was signed with the U.S.-based Maxar Intelligence to provide satellite imagery leasing services, worth US$8.6m.

Majed Ahmed Al Jaberi emphasized the significance of IDEX and NAVDEX 2025 in showcasing the latest technologies and innovations in the defense and aerospace sectors. He said IDEX & NAVDEX serve as an ideal platform for leading companies in these industries to exchange expertise and innovations. He continued by saying the event supports the UAE’s strategic goals of enhancing defence and technological capabilities to bolster national security and stability while reinforcing the nation’s position as a global hub for defence and aerospace industries.

This year’s edition of IDEX Talks facilitated CBRNE themed topics, focusing on chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive (CBRNE) defence. The inclusion of these discussions underscores the growing need for advanced preparedness, rapid response strategies, and cutting-edge technologies to counter evolving security challenges. With leading experts and defence specialists at the forefront, the sessions explored innovations in detection, protection, and decontamination.

NAVDEX 2025 saw a strong turnout of high-ranking military officials, government delegations, and leading defence industry players, with the exhibition showcasing 33 naval vessels from 22 countries, including newly manufactured ships that underscore the cutting-edge capabilities of the Emirati defence industry.-idex/adj/dl (Pix:IDEX)
