“From ransomware targeting financial institutions to cyber espionage infiltrating government agencies, the risks we face are as real as they are unprecedented. New tactics like cryptojacking have also emerged, where cybercriminals use victims’ computers to mine cryptocurrency without their knowledge. This method requires no ransom and has proven highly profitable,” said Deputy Digital Minister Wilson Ugak.

“Cybersecurity is no longer a technical or IT issue. It is a national security imperative, an economic enabler, and a fundamental pillar of trust in the digital age. A single breach can disrupt economies, erode public confidence, and inflict significant financial losses.”

Next, unmanned platforms are now seemingly increasingly omnipresent across the air, land and sea domains, to which DronTech Asia 2025 stands ready to fuel growth not just for the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) sector, but for Malaysia’s broader technology ecosystem and linking opportunities in advanced drone technology to Malaysia’s sophisticated, world-class semiconductor industry and beyond.

UAVs have seen increased use not only in the defence sector, but also commercial and private sectors for a plethora of applications. “Drones can also be linked to semiconductors, and Malaysia has a very interesting and sophisticated semiconductor industry. DronTech Asia 2025 will serve not only as a showcase of cutting-edge drone technology, but as a catalyst for sustainable, high-value growth for Malaysia and the region”, said Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) Liew Chin Tong.
