SAFRAN Electronics and Defense will be exhibiting at the upcoming Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) 2027 to be held from April 20-24 next year. Safran is a long-standing partner of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF), with five companies in Safran Group supplying equipment for major MAF assets in the country.

Safran supplies the Royal Malaysian Navy’s (RMN) Perdana Menteri-class Scorpene submarines, Royal Malaysian Air Force’s (RMAF) Airbus A400M airlifters and H225M multirole helicopters as well as the Malaysian Army’s AW109 helicopters in various areas such as helicopter engines, auxiliary power units, periscopes, optronic masts, radar systems for submarines, Vigy Observers (optronic observation systems), firing control systems for Pendekar PT-91M main battle tanks (MBT) and inertial navigation systems.

The RMAF operates four Airbus A400M aircraft, with Safran Aircraft Engines as one of the major partners for the aircraft propulsion system (as part of the consortium EuroProp International) while Safran Landing Systems provides the landing gear. Additionally, Safran Helicopter Engines supplies the powerful Makila 2A/2a1 engines for the H225M helicopters.

Safran is a member of the Malaysian Aerospace Industry Association (MAIA) and has a representative on its Board of Directors while also remaining involved in academic and professional training. The Group partners several local universities, including UniKL and UTM, in order to contribute to the development of specialist training in aeronautics and to aid the development of academic programs that correspond as closely as possible to the needs of a highly-qualified workforce.–-shp/adj/dl (Pix:SAFRAN)
