TURKIYE‘s HÜRJET advanced jet trainer programme’ third production aircraft has successfully completed its maiden flight as serial production activities continue at full pace and Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) moving towards serial production. The latest flight marked “an important step” in the programme’s transition from development and testing towards production and operational service. The third aircraft had previously rolled out of the hangar after completing the necessary ground tests and systems checks.
The programme represents one of Türkiye’s major efforts to strengthen its indigenous aerospace capabilities and develop a modern training platform for future fighter pilots. The aircraft is designed as an advanced jet trainer, providing capabilities suited to the training requirements of modern air forces. Its development is also intended to support Türkiye’s broader ambition of building a stronger domestic aerospace and defence industry.
TAI states that the successful flight of the third aircraft is particularly significant because production aircraft must progress through a series of ground and flight tests before entering service. The continued expansion of the HÜRJET flight-test and production fleet will allow the programme to advance towards its planned delivery schedule.
Deliveries To Turkish Air Force From ’28, Spain To Follow
Deliveries of HÜRJET to the Turkish Air Force are scheduled to begin in 2028. The aircraft is expected to play an important role in the future training pipeline of Turkish military pilots, providing an advanced platform between basic flight training and operational fighter aircraft.
The move towards deliveries will also represent a major milestone for TAI, demonstrating the company’s ability to take an indigenous combat-aircraft programme from development through to serial production and operational deployment.
Following the planned Turkish Air Force deliveries, HÜRJET is also scheduled to enter service with the Spanish Air Force. The Spanish commitment gives the programme an important international dimension and could strengthen HÜRJET’s position in the increasingly competitive global advanced jet trainer market.

With its third aircraft now having completed its maiden flight, HÜRJET is moving steadily towards the next phase of its development. TAI says that the programme is progressing beyond its initial development phase, thanks to a combination of continued serial production, an expanding aircraft fleet and planned deliveries beginning in 2028.
