PTDI Signs MoU with AIROD to Collaborate on N219 Programme in Malaysia
LANGKAWI – PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AIROD Sdn Bhd (AIROD), a leading aviation MRO centre in Malaysia, to explore collaboration opportunities on N219 programme.
The MoU was signed by PTDI President Director, Gita Amperiawan and President – National Aerospace & Defence Industries (NADI), Brig Gen Abdul Rahim bin Abdul Rahman RMAF (Ret.), witnessed by Indonesian Minister of Defence, Prabowo Subianto at PTDI Booth B21 A at Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace (LIMA) Exhibition 2023.
PTDI and AIROD will team up to explore potential synergies in several strategic areas of marketing and sales of N219 aircraft produced by PTDI, in Malaysia territory and to establish, develop and formalise the N219 MRO cooperation in Malaysia, the company said in a May 23 press release.
“PTDI is pleased to partner with AIROD to bring the best possible experience and service to the N219 aircraft, enhancing our complementary strengths and market presence in Malaysia territory. N219 is an aircraft that fully designed and developed by Indonesian engineers and I believe we all are proud to say that N219 also belongs to the ASEAN countries as a part of the Southeast Asia indigenous aircraft product. And this event mark our important milestone for N219 entering a global market,” said Gita Amperiawan, President Director at PTDI.
As part of the MoU, PTDI and AIROD will collaborate to explore a broad scope of the N219 MRO centre establishment in Malaysia to maintain the airworthiness and longevity, also guaranteeing safe and reliable operations for the company’s customers.
It will also enhance PTDI’s capabilities and contribute to the growth of both Indonesia and Malaysian aerospace sectors.

The N219 – PTDI’s new product, that has obtained a Type Certificate (TC) issued by Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Transportation Indonesia. With its capability in short take-off and landing, N219 is suitable to be operated in remote and mountainous areas in low operating/maintenance cost.
The N219 is a highly versatile aircraft that can be customised with various missions and configurations such as passenger / VIP / cargo / troop transport, medical evacuation or even amphibious.
