The ELT Group EMSO and Cyber Capabilities

FOR more than 70 years, ELT has been a world leader in electronic defence systems. Thanks to innovative management of the electromagnetic spectrum, achieved through proprietary and integrated technologies. ELT Group employs a multi-domain approach that covers Cyber, Space and Biodefence. Electromagnetic defence is strategic, in a multi-domain context, to ensure the cyber resilience of critical civil and military infrastructures against cyber threats that exploit the electromagnetic spectrum, so-called CEMA (Cyber electromagnetic activities). In addition to its core competence in the electromagnetic spectrum, thanks to Cy4gate, a company that is part of the Group ELT, the company can offer a multi domain solution in an ever changing and hostile environment.

At the recent NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE), Cy4gate’s Hybrid Digital Twin – Cyber Range reproduced a realistic simulation of the network in combination with ELT’s electromagnetic defence systems in hardware-in-the-loop mode. The objective of the demonstration was to show what are the potential vulnerabilities for a critical military infrastructure subjected to cyber threats from an adversary using radio-frequency vectors, such as EMSO (ElectroMagnetic Spectrum Operation), and how to increase resilience to such attacks through electromagnetic defence, which creates an additional layer of defence to the cyber one in the network. The demonstration showed how this type of defence is achieved through the advanced capabilities offered by ELT Group’s C-ESM (Communication Electromagnetic Supporting Measures) systems.

The ELT Group is working to be able to respond in a timely manner to today’s cyber security requirements. Cy4gate designs, develops and produces systems and services that meet the ‘Cyber Intelligence & Cyber Security’ requirements of Armed Forces, companies and institutions. By combining electromagnetic and cyber expertise, the ELT Group has demonstrated that it can provide effective responses to pervasive threats characteristic of multi-domain scenarios. By the experience gained through participation in major European defence programmes including Eurofighter Typhoon, FREMM, and PPA, today ELT Group is present in more than 30 countries in the world with more than 3,000 systems supplied to date. ELT Group is also involved with the sixth-generation avionics platform GCAP (Global Combat Air Programme)-elt/adj/mhi(Pix:ELT)
