GLOBAL Exhibitions & Conferences Sdn Bhd (GEC), co-organiser of the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) 2027 with the Ministry of Defence Malaysia (MINDEF), successfully organised LIMA Run 2026 as part of its promotional initiatives leading up to LIMA’27, scheduled to take place on Apr 20-24 next year in Langkawi.
The second edition of LIMA Run, following its inaugural event in 2024, successfully brought together 3,200 participants from various backgrounds, including members of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF), foreign embassy representatives, government agencies, industry players and the public.
The event featured two running categories, namely 5km and 7km, with both routes starting and finishing at the Kuala Lumpur City Hall Square (“Dataran DBKL”), providing an iconic gathering point in the capital for participants to come together and celebrate the occasion.
Among those who took part in LIMA Run 2026 were Chief of Defence Forces Malek Razak Sulaiman, MINDEF Secretary-General Lokman Hakim Ali, Deputy Chief of Navy Vice Admiral Badarudin Taha, Deputy Chief of Air Force Lieutenant General Nur Hafis Abdul Karim, MINDEF Deputy Secretary-General (Development) Abdul Hadi Omar, GEC Chairman General (Retired) Azizan Ariffin, and Coalition of Defence Industry Malaysia (CDIM) President Nonee Ashirin Mohd Radzi.
LIMA Run 2026 was made possible with the support of its sponsors, namely Spritzer, Global Turbine Asia (GTA), QUBE Integrated, Batik Air, CurioPack, CORKCICLE, Corporate Hero, Nestlé MILO and Netfy. Additional support was provided by SCS, HeyJom, Decathlon and Affin Bank in areas including participant engagement, registration, event operations and related activities.
GEC stated that LIMA Run 2026 forms part of the broader promotional efforts for LIMA’27, which carries the theme “Sustainable Vision Across Sea, Sky and Space”. The exhibition will showcase innovations and technological advancements across the defence, maritime, aerospace and space sectors, while providing opportunities for strategic collaboration and business development at both regional and international levels.
“We extend our appreciation to the Ministry of Defence Malaysia, participating agencies, strategic partners, sponsors, volunteers and all participants for their support in making LIMA Run 2026 a success. GEC hopes that the event will continue to strengthen community engagement and build greater support for LIMA’27 ahead of the exhibition in April 2027.”
