India Considers Extending Sukhoi Operational Life
The Indian Air Force (IAF) is said to be evaluating on extending the
operational life of the Sukhoi Su-30 MKI fighter jets by up to two more
decades or longer through testing and evaluation.
Maintaining a fleet of more than 260 Russian-origin Su-30s, the
readiness of these aircraft are imperative for operations beyond 2045.
The life extension programme is expected to be done with the help of
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in which the jets are to be fitted
with the latest avionics, weapons and indigenously-developed radars,
such as the Virupaaksha radar. shp/adj/dl (Pix:Indian Air Force)
