Pakistan Navy Concludes Multinational Exercise AMAN 2025 with International Fleet Review (Video)

Karachi, 11 February 2025 – The ninth edition of the Multinational Exercise AMAN 2025, hosted by the Pakistan Navy, concluded in the North Arabian Sea with an impressive International Fleet Review (IFR). The closing ceremony, marked by a spectacular naval display, was graced by Pakistan’s Chief of the Army Staff, General Asim Munir, as the Chief Guest. The exercise underscored Pakistan’s commitment to maritime security and regional peace under the motto “Together for Peace.”

A Grand Maritime Display

The IFR saw Pakistan Navy and foreign warships conducting intricate operational maneuvers, culminating in the traditional AMAN Formation, symbolizing unity and collective security. The event was hosted onboard Pakistan Navy Ship MOAWIN, where General Asim Munir was received by Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf. High-profile dignitaries, including the Governor of Sindh, Chief Minister of Sindh, and the Federal Minister of Maritime Affairs, as well as ambassadors, high commissioners, and naval chiefs from participating countries, were present to witness the grand spectacle. Also present at the International Fleet Review were Governor of Sindh, Kamran Khan Tessori.

Replenishment at Sea drills between PNS Tipu Sultan and PNS Taimur

The fleet review started with the replenishment at sea drills between Pakistan Navy vessels – destroyers PNS Tipu Sultan and PNS Taimur. Both ships then align themselves to look like one ship for the surface practice firing on “Killer Tomato”. There were also a Joint Counter Piracy Demonstration, followed by anti-submarine rocket depth charge (RDC) firing. The target was Pakistan Navy submarine Agosta-B. PLA Navy guided missile destroyer PLANS Baotou and Royal Malaysian Navy patrol vessel KD Terengganu also took part in the gun firing exercise.

One of the highlights of the IFR was a breathtaking flypast by aircraft from the Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Air Force, and foreign navies, showcasing their airpower and operational coordination. The flypast began with the Pakistan Navy’s P-3C Orion long-range maritime patrol aircraft followed by the C-72 (ATR-72/600) aircraft from Turkish Navy. Other assets from the Pakistan Navy’s Air Arm – Sea King and Z9EC helicopters, and Pakistan Air Force’s JF17 Block 3 Marinised Fighter.

The event also featured the Man and Cheer Ship tradition, where sailors lined up on the decks of participating vessels in a display of camaraderie and discipline. All aircraft flew in a group of three.

Pakistan’s Commitment to Maritime Peace

Speaking on the occasion, General Asim Munir commended the Pakistan Navy for successfully hosting AMAN 2025 and reaffirmed the country’s unwavering resolve to foster global maritime security. He expressed gratitude to the regional and extra-regional navies for their participation, emphasizing that AMAN 2025 serves as a vital platform for international naval cooperation and strategic dialogue.

“AMAN 2025 has connected regions, bringing together nations with a shared commitment to safe and secure seas for a prosperous future,” the Chief Guest stated.

A Global Maritime Collaboration

The AMAN series of exercises has grown into a premier international naval event, with approximately 60 countries participating in the 2025 edition. The exercise included contributions from naval warships, aircraft, marines, and special operations forces, along with a large number of observers.

A key component of the exercise was the AMAN Dialogue, which provided a strategic forum for discussions on contemporary maritime security challenges. The dialogue facilitated exchange of expertise, fostering greater collaboration among participating nations.

Strengthening Naval Partnerships

With AMAN 2025, Pakistan has once again demonstrated its role as a key proponent of maritime security and international naval cooperation. The exercise highlighted the importance of multinational maritime partnerships in ensuring regional stability and securing vital sea lanes.
