Precision, Autonomy, Adaptability: ASELSAN’s TOLUN Family Redefine Edge Of Air Power
IN modern aerial warfare, precision alone is no longer enough. Air forces need munitions that think, adapt and connect. As nations seek to balance performance, cost and autonomy, ASELSAN’s TOLUN smart munition family stands out as a benchmark in indigenous precision strike, combining advanced guidance, multi-platform compatibility and multi-domain versatility.
Complete Precision Strike Ecosystem
The TOLUN family has evolved from a single air-launched munition into a comprehensive multi-domain strike ecosystem spanning manned aircraft, unmanned platforms and ground-based launchers.
TOLUN P, the foundation of the family, is a GNSS/INS guided air-to-surface munition developed by ASELSAN. Weighing approximately 139 kilograms with a range of 55 nautical miles, it delivers a 105kg warhead capable of penetrating one metre of reinforced concrete. A four-channel CRPA anti-jamming antenna and embedded spoofing-resistant software ensure accuracy even under GNSS denial or electronic warfare conditions. Carried with ASELSAN’s SADAK-4T Smart Pneumatic Quad Rack, an F-16 can deploy up to eight TOLUN munitions simultaneously, dramatically increasing sortie effectiveness.
TOLUN F is the fragmentation warhead type, maximising its destructive power on the target with the help of a cockpit-programmable, time-delayed electronic fuze and a proximity sensor that allows the warhead to detonate at a specific distance before hitting the target.
TOLUN IIR integrates an imaging infrared seeker, achieving a CEP of less than three metres at ranges up to 43NM. Its defining capability is man-in-the-loop control via a two-way datalink, transmitting real-time seeker imagery to the operator for mid-flight target updates and aim-point selection against both static and moving targets.
TOLUN L introduces laser seeker to the family. With a range of over 40km, laser seeker enables precise engagement against critical moving or stationary targets while keeping collateral damage at minimum. Thanks to its laser seeker, TOLUN L achieves a CEP of less than three metres.
Multi-platform, combat-proven
TOLUN’s platform compatibility has expanded significantly. Operational on the Bayraktar AKINCI UCAV since 2023, TOLUN achieved a landmark milestone with its first live air-to-surface firing from a Turkish Air Force F-16. The ANKA-III UAV has also completed firing tests at 20,000 feet. At the Paris Air Show 2025, TOLUN was showcased as part of the indigenous strike package for Türkiye’s KAAN fifth-generation fighter, signaling its role in the country’s most advanced future combat platform.
The family’s export trajectory is equally compelling. In August 2023, ASELSAN secured a US$35.58 million export contract for TOLUN and SADAK-4T racks, marking its entry into the international market. With active marketing toward nations operating F-16 fleets and growing interest across the Gulf, Central Asia and the Asia-Pacific, TOLUN is positioned as an increasingly competitive global product.

What sets TOLUN apart
The TOLUN family distinguishes itself through a rare combination of precision, adaptability and sovereign production. Where competing systems lose reliability under jamming, TOLUN maintains accuracy through robust anti-jamming and anti-spoofing technology. Where most miniature munitions depend on external targeting, TOLUN IIR’s real-time seeker with man-in-the-loop control grants tactical freedom in communication-limited conditions. Compact, connected and combat-proven, the TOLUN family delivers the reach of larger, more expensive systems in a lighter, more versatile and more affordable package.
