Pantsir-S Hit Down Five Drones Near Moscow

According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, the Pantsir-S self-propelled anti-aircraft gun-missile system (SPAAG) hit down five UAV around the Russian capital in early morning of May 30, 2023.

According to the MoD, Moscow was attacked by eight unidentified drones. Three of them were oppressed by means of AEW while the remaining five hit down by the fire from Pantsir-S. The SPAAG has been designed and manufactured in a quantities by the Shipunov Tula-based KBP Design Bureau, the High Precision Weapons Holding subsidiary.

According to www.roe.ru web-site, the Pantsir-S is a mobile multi-channel short-range SPAAG. It employs a combined missile-gun armament being able to protect military and civil objects against the aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles, smart weapons and UAV.

The system is usually based on the 8×8 KAMAZ-type lorry. It is claimed to be able to engage up to four targets simultaneously with a speed up to 1,000 m/s. The missile killing range is between distance of 1,200-20,000m and altitude of 15-15,000m. The automatic guns efficient range is between distance of 200-4,000m and from altitude of 0 to 3,000m.
