Two Royal Malaysian Navy Helicopters Lost In Accident

A pair of Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) helicopters were lost in an accident after the two helicopters collided in mid-air during aerial rehearsals for the upcoming 90th anniversary of the RMN. A Leonardo AW139 Maritime Operations Helicopter (MOH) from the 503rd Squadron collided with a Eurocopter AS555 Fennec helicopter from the 502nd Squadron during a flypast where several more RMN helicopters were airborne alongside the ill-fated duo of helicopters.

According to reports, the AW139 carried 7 crew including the aviators while the AS555 carried three onboard, with confirmation of all hands lost. The RMN will establish an investigation board to investigate the cause of the crash. shp/adj/dl (Pix:Asian Defence Journal/502nd Sqdn)
