Communication and electronic systems specialist company, Rohde & Schwarz won a subcontract to provide the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) with R&S M3SR Series4100 high frequency (HF) radios, high power amplifiers (5 kW and 10 kW) and spares to support New Zealand Ministry of Defence’s Fixed High Frequency Radio Refresh (FHFRR) project. The subcontract was awarded to Rohde & Schwarz by Babcock Australasia – the main contractor of the programme.

Babcock won a contract from the New Zealand government to replace NZDF’s fixed HF radio capability, which is expected to be fully operational by August 2023. The company is additionally tendering for Australian Defence Force’s Enhanced Defence High Frequency Communications System (EDHFCS) programme, also in collaboration with Rohde & Schwarz.

R&S M3SR Series4100 HF radios belong to the SOVERON radio family. They are innovative, versatile software defined radios (SDR) that include HF wideband functionality. This powerful radio platform can be extended at any time and is a safe, future-ready investment.
