Taiwan’s Republic of China Army’s (ROCA) 101st Infantry Brigade will carry out a live-fire exercise in its designated defence zone on Mar 25, with troops set to conduct field shooting drills with small arms at Changhua County’s Xianxi Beach. The beach is referred to as a “red beach”, meaning it is a prospective landing site for any amphibious landing operation by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA). Other such beaches include Taoyuan’s Guanyin Beach, Tainan’s Xishu Beach, and the northern bank of Taichung’s Dajia River. The exercise follows after an increase in PLA activity around Taiwan. shp/adj/dl (Pix:Republic of China Ministry of National Defense)
