Heckler & Koch Returns To Malaysia With Asia In Sights

GERMAN small arms giant Heckler & Koch made their long-awaited return to DSA & NATSEC Asia 2026, with an array of the latest small arms. First, the MR308 which is a civilian version of the HK417 used by the military and law enforcement. The MR308A6 is a prototype designated marksman rifle (DMR)  with a side charging handle which is not common on AR-10 based platforms. As a semi-automatic DMR, the gas system can be adjusted for suppressor and non-suppressor use, and even turned off when using special ammunition. After that, the crowd-favourite HK416, now up to the A5 variant with a new buttstock, adjustable handgrip and ambidextrous controls. In a new look from the previous iterations, the HK416A5 now features an M-LOK handguard, and available in 11”, 12.5”, 14.5”, 16.5”, and 20” barrel length configurations.

Following that, the HK433 (G39) PDW Modular Assault Rifle System. The HK433 is chambered in  5.56x45mm while the G39 chambered in .300BLK is based on the HK437 with the G39 in final test phase with German military forces while delivery is scheduled for later this year. Moving up, the HK421 7.62x51mm belt-fed machine gun is compact and weighs just 8.3kg, lighter in comparison with the HK MG5 machine gun. The HK421 also features a hydraulic buffer system to reduce recoil and also has three stage gas adjustment for suppressors, normal operations and adverse conditions in rough conditions. The HK421’s interface also allows for seamless integration into FN MINIMI 5.56/7.62 mounts. Its modular grip will feature single fire, and full-auto.

On handguns, H&K showcased its SFP9A1 and SFP9A1 CC, both in 9mm. The SFP9A1 is an improvement of the SFP9 which was released in 2025 with no finger grooves on the grip and more aggressive slide serrations, an integrated flared magwell, and new coating on trigger parts. Furthermore the SFP9A1 and CC versions are optics-ready with seven different adaptor plates to accommodate red dot sights. The CC version is smaller for concealed carry and can accommodate several red dot sights including the Trijicon RMR CC. Still in strong demand, H&K has also received strong demand in the region to upgrade the trusted MP5 family of submachine guns (SMG) with H&K’s MP5 MLI (mid-life improvement).
