KUALA LUMPUR: One of much anticipated international Asian defence show of the year, the Defence Services Asia (DSA) 2020 and NATSEC Asia 2020 exhibitions have been deferred by almost two years to March 28 – 31, 2022. The announcement was made by the show organiser of both events, DSA Exhibition & Conference Sdn. Bhd May 12.

The decision was made following exhaustive consideration with various stakeholders including the Malaysian Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Home Affairs and Malaysian Armed Forces, who are the co-organisers. Initially slated for April 2020 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), the mega events were postponed to August following the coronavirus outbreak. As the crisis escalated, it was deemed in the best interest of all parties involved to defer the event to early 2022.

Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin, Chairman of DSA Exhibition & Conference said: “Truly, this was a heavy decision to make. However, the health and wellbeing of everyone concerned remains our utmost priority. As such, the current situation of the pandemic no longer makes it conducive to hold these events in 2020. While many alternative dates were studied, we realised it is in the best interest of all parties involved that the event be deferred to early 2022.”

“With more than 1,500 participating companies from over 60 countries, some 350 VIP delegations from 30 countries and the expected 50,000 visitors from all corners of the world, it was only prudent to look at a revised date. We wanted to ensure a conducive and productive business environment for our stakeholders, exhibitors and visitors when the events get underway.

“We extend our sincere and heartfelt sympathies to all those who have been affected and hope that the rescheduled dates will ensure DSA 2022 and NATSEC Asia 2022 continue to serve as an integral platform to encourage foreign technology exchange and partnerships, as well as enhance cooperation to strengthen national defence and security,” added Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin.

The two mega events will feature focused segments involving not just a conventional defence platform but also Cyber Defence, Unmanned Systems and Battlefield Healthcare.

Invaluable opportunities abound for strategic alliances, business collaboration and successful networking between major players in the defence and securities and government agencies at DSA 2022 and NATSEC Asia 2022.

The DSA 2022 and NATSEC Asia 2022 are hosted, supported and co-organised by the Malaysian Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and Ministry of Home Affairs.
