BHIC Receives Supplemental Letter of Award for the In-Service Support of RMAF’s EC725 Helicopters

Boustead Heavy Industries Corporation Berhad (BHIC) has announced that a joint venture company, BHIC AeroServices Sdn Bhd (BHICAS) has accepted the Supplemental Letter of Award dated July 4, 2023 from Ministry of Defence Malaysia for an additional ceiling contract of RM115.3 million and extension of contract period from April 1, 2023 until March 31, 2024. The new total ceiling contract value is RM706.5 million only.

BHIC has previously received Letters of Award in 2014, 2017 and 2020, in relation to the provision of maintenance and supply of spares for the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) EC725 Helicopters via In-Service Support, the company said July 14.

Apart from the revision of the Contract value, there are no significant differences between the substance of the Contract and the Supplemental LOA, the statement said.

BHICAS is a joint venture between BHIC Defence Technologies Sdn Bhd (51%), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company, Prestige Pillar Sdn Bhd (30%) and Airbus Helicopters Malaysia Sdn Bhd (19%).

The Royal Malaysian Air Force’s fleet of 12 EC725 or now known as H225M helicopters has been in service since 2012. Designed for the most demanding missions, these H225Ms have participated in various exercises and humanitarian missions, including flood rescue and lifesaving operations. Together, they have achieved over 30,000 flight hours.

A combat-proven multi-purpose and versatile asset, the H225M enables military forces to deploy wherever and whenever needed. Currently, about 160 H225Ms are in service across the world. Besides Malaysia, the H225M is relied upon by Brazil, France, Indonesia, Mexico, Kuwait, Singapore and Thailand to support their most demanding missions. — bhic/adj/mhi (Pix: RMAF)
