Indonesia to purchase Bayraktar TB2 UAVs
INDONESIA’S Air Force is set to purchase an undisclosed number of Bayraktar TB2 medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) manufactured by Turkiye’s Baykar Technologies.
According to the service’s chief of staff Air Chief Marshal Mohammad Tonny Harjono, the Bayraktar would further complement the CH-4B and Anka UAVs previously acquired by the Air Force. He added that the drone is suited for and also meets the requirements for surveillance and reconnaissance operations.
The procurement comes after ACM Tonny’s visit to Baykar Technologies in Istanbul before the end of June to study drone technology and artificial intelligence (AI).
The Bayraktar TB2 can operate at maximum altitude of 22,000 feet and carry up to four laser-guided smart munitions with autonomous landing and take-off capabilities. With an endurance of over 20 hours, it can remain airborne for a maximum of 27 hours, a record in Turkiye’s aviation history.
has logged over 800,000 flight hours since 2014 with Turkiye’s military and law enforcement agencies and various other operators including Qatar, Ukraine, and Azerbaijan.-shp/adj/dl (Pix: BAYKAR)
